Adam Roebuck Studios Offers
2 Types of Singing Instruction
What type of technique do I teach? My technique consists of a series of reflexive exercises, based on the work of Ingo Titze, to connect the singers voice (muscle) with their breath. Once these concepts become automatic the singer is able to produce sounds that can be classified as "belt", "mix", or "legit". These exercises also focus on the areas of articulation, pronunciation, breathing, posture, tone, blending registers, resonance/power, volume, endurance, range, and audiation. I do not teach a "cookie cutter" approach and custom tailor my teaching to match your learning style. I also specialize in breathing for the singer, actor, and or professional speaker. I work with singers who are currently in, or in the past, have gone through many types of vocal rehab with a licensed ENT (ear, nose & throat) doctor or a speech therapist. I can incorporate your current rehab prescription into the session.
What styles of singing do my clients sing? Musical theater/Broadway, opera/legic/classical, reggae, reggaeton, popera, pop, rock, jazz, reggae, R&B, country, and even heavy metal!
What type of equipment do I have available to use during instruction? I send all clients home with a recording of the session on CD to practice with. Many times sessions include work with VAMS (vocal acoustic monitors). I also use a computer spectrogram to allow clients to see their voice as real time picture as well as a computer pitch counter for clients with pitch matching problems.

What happens during the session?
A 30 minute singing lesson consists of 10 to 15 minute warmup with the rest of the session working on practical application to a song. I've played the piano for 26 years so I can accompany you with whatever song you bring in. Most people do a mix of a singing lesson and vocal coaching.

The 10 week group class alternates between a 'technique week" and a song week. During technique week, each of the 6 participants are taken through Adam's series of reflexive exercises, both individually and as a group. During song week, participants work on applying these exercise concepts to a section of a song.
